Sudden Threat Review

Sudden Threat

Author A. J. Tata has got to have the hottest new action book out on terrorism by far! His newest book "Sudden Threat" sizzles like an over-heated barrel on a M-60 Machine Gun! There is enough action, suspense, intrigue, death, destruction and dangerous politics for four novels! This book is a winner and will be a definite hit for those who love to read books on the war on terrorism.
The book is well crafted. The plot is dynamite - totally an original way to tell a great story. The dialog is alive and moves the plot forward; but it is his portrayal of the people in the story that allows the reader to fully visualize them in their minds. This is a brilliantly crafted book that is destined to be a top seller! Buy it and read it - it is that good!
"The Military Writer's Society of America" gives this book its top award of FIVE STARS! This book is also on my short list of recommended novels to read!

In December 2001, CIA paramilitary operative Matt Garrett is mysteriously pulled from Pakistan as he closes in for the kill of Al Qaeda senior leadership and is reassigned to a low-profile mission in the Philippines. But as he sifts through the wreckage of a downed C-130 in the tangled jungle, he finds a dead U.S. Special Forces paratrooper who is not supposed to be there and is thrown into a contest of wits and resiliency in the uncharted rainforests of Mindanao.Manipulated by the secret plans of a powerful quartet of upper-echelon Rolling Stones groupies in Washington, DC, Garrett and U.S. Armed Forces establish their bona fides as true patriots on the cutting edge of freedom as they struggle for survival against the rising tide of Islamic extremism and the reemergence of the Empire of the Sun in the ever-expanding Global War on Terror. In the stunning prequel to his award-winning novel Rogue Threat, A.J. Tata creates an uncanny sense of presence on and off the battlefield in Sudden Threat, a novel rife with conspiracy, diplomatic double-talk, betrayal, loyalty, valor and honor.

Ufos: The Public Deceived Review

Ufos: The Public Deceived
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Philip Klass is fighting a battle he can never win. For all the claims to the contrary, UFOlogy is less an exercise in science or journalism than it is purely one of entertainment. After all, even the staunchest promoter of the "extraterrestrial hypothesis" must in the end admit that not a shred of real physical evidence exists to support it. UFOlogy is perhaps unique among disciplines in being based entirely on nothing more than personal testimony.
In this book, Klass delves into some of the more notable UFO cases of the 1970's--the Delphos sighting, which supposedly involved "unexplainable" traces from a UFO on the ground; the Coyne/Mansfield Army helicopter incident; the Travis Walton abduction claim; the New Zealand sighting that resulted in several minutes of filmed UFO footage. Klass painstakingly outlines the details of each case, notes the inevitable inconsistencies and discrepancies that undermine the interpretation of each as something otherworldly, and proposes and defends more reasonable mundane explanations. Almost without exception, his UFOlogist counterparts are clearly revealed for the (at minimum) highly credulous and (all too often) blatantly deceptive mythmongers they are. Klass also reviews the declassified CIA documents that some UFOlogists had used to claim that the government was hiding its own knowledge of UFOs, and makes it quite obvious that such a claim could only result from a hyperactive imagination or from willful deception.
Klass is not without foibles of his own. Some of his arguments are ad hoc, and one can occasionally find flaws in his logic. Still, it is difficult to come away from a reading of "UFOs: The Public Deceived" and not appreciate how outlandish the UFOlogist claims are by comparison--unless, of course, one has a fundamentalist's faith in the opposite view. The writing is straightforward and the book easy to read. Overall, a fine effort. Still, since UFOlogy has none of the attributes one might assign to a rational enterprise, what Klass is doing is essentially like arguing that "Titanic" was a terrible film. Which of the millions of believers are going to listen?

This book appraises the widely held belief that the US government is engaged in a massive cover up of UFOs and an expose of media sensationalism and public gullibility.

Area 51: The Reply Review

Area 51: The Reply
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This second novel in the Area 51 series is another action-packed, suspenseful read. The story begins where the first novel ended. The familiar characters thought their problems would be over once they brought down Majic-12 and succeeded in averting disaster in the form of an alien attack; in fact, their problems have just begun. The "guardian" discovered under Easter Island has sent out a message into space, and very soon scientists detect a reply message coming from--ta da, the Cydonia region of Mars. This story starts a little slow, hampered somewhat by the need for the author to refresh the memories of those having read the first book. The message from Mars says the aliens are coming to earth with peaceful intentions, but Mike Turcotte, Lisa Duncan, Professor Nabinger, and Kelly Reynolds must determine if that is true. New alien sites are being discovered, with the two most important being in an ancient Chinese mountain tomb and in Africa's Great Rift Valley. Our heroes rush all over the planet, gaining access to the two main alien sites by way of some thrilling commando-raid actions. They get some assistance from an entirely new secret group called STAAR, a group even Majic-12 knew nothing about. Racing to get more information, our heroes must determine whether or not the aliens on their way from Mars are indeed the friendly ancient astronauts who helped save the earth thousands of years earlier or if they are members of the rebel group that mutinied against the ancient mission and remain intent on destroying our planet.
With this book, the standard type of government conspiracy ideas give way to novel new suggestions and possibilities. The reader joins the characters in trying to figure out who everyone is, who they are working for, and whether or not their intentions are peaceful. The addition of a new ultra-secret group beyond Majic-12 is complicated by the fact that the members appear and act differently than normal human beings. Some readers may not like the final few chapters because the reader is being constantly thrown back and forth between different events, but I felt this did much to add to the suspense of the concluding pages. I most enjoyed the description of covert forces activities; I have no way of knowing how true to life the author's descriptions are, but they do engross the reader in their details (especially when the inevitable major problems pop up to endanger the missions). After a slow start, the author really puts his hooks into you by the halfway point, making this a book you don't want to put down. It doesn't really matter that the whole future of earth is in the hands of a special forces officer, archaeologist, and political appointee of a President who is rarely heard from in the story, or that a lowly reporter has basic carte blanche access to the heart of the ultra-secret Area 51 headquarters. The author knows how to tell a story, and he continually injects mystery and suspense into a story that could easily have become stale in the hands of a lesser writer. Two books into the series, the story continues to grow even more interesting and enjoyable.

Area 51 was the most secret place in America. But it was only one piece in a puzzle that stretched from Egypt's Pyramids to the mysterious face on Mars...Part of a plan begun 5,000 years ago by those who had been here before. And are coming back. When scientist Lisa Duncan and Special Forces officer Mike Turcotte uncovered the stunning truth about Area 51--a "training area" on Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada--they opened up a Pandora's box kept hidden from the American public for fifty years. What they uncovered explained decades of UFO sightings--and the most baffling mysteries of history from the Great Pyramid to Easter Island. But these findings were only the beginning. Now a signal had come in from outer space: our first contact with extraterrestrials. The message said they were coming. It didn't say they had been here before...and left something behind. But what waited deep within the Rift Valley of Ethiopia and inside an ancient Chinese tomb would determine Earth's fate. The dawning of a new age. Or the destruction of us all... Area 51 (Area 51, Book 1) Review

Area 51 (Area 51, Book 1)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bob Mayer (AKA Robert Doherty AKA Greg Donegan AKA Joe Dalton AKA Bob McGuire) is truly one of the more masterful newcomers to the sci-fi genre in many, many years. Intermingling sci-fi with edgy military techo-thriller action, Mayer weaves some of the most enjoyable and imaginative fiction I've ever read with each novel. I look forward to every book he writes and have yet to be disappointed. The Area 51 series has been one of the most exciting I've ever read and just when I thought it couldn't get any better, along came the Atlantis series, which is equally as good, if not better.
For those in the know about government secrecy on UFOs and the various black projects and secret operations that they have undertaken over the years, you'll find that Mayer truly did his homework on this series. Mayer name-drops numerous actual military projects from Operation: Paperclip to Project Aquarius as bits and pieces of a puzzle that the government has been piecing together since the accidental discovery of an alien mothership hidden in the Nevada mountains so many years ago.
From clues hidden in the most remote locations on Earth for thousands of years to new discoveries on the Martian landscape, the complex story continues to unravel the true origin of humankind and each subsequent saga is more fascinating than the last. Being a special forces trainer himself, the attention to detail as far as the military aspect in Mayer's stories is phenomenal as well. Bob Mayer is very quickly making a name for himself as one of the finest action authors of the modern age.
If the Area 51 series intriques you, be sure not to miss his Atlantis series (under the Donegan pen name) and his military thrillers such as The Omega Missile (Dalton pen name), The Gate (McGuire pen name) and Psychic Warrior (Doherty pen name). All smashingly good reads!!
