Cussler is one of the few authors who have NEVER disappointed me and I buy his books day of release without fail. I even liked his collaborations with Dirgo as it always seemed to me to be a Cussler book, UNTIL NOW. I totally agree with the reviewer who wrote that the book just died. Reading about the Dali Lama got me hooked as i thought there would be a few plots going on at once and the Dali Lama part could be quite intriguing. Did Cussler even see the book before Dirgo went to publisher?
I kept waiting for something other than the one event to happen. All these uninteresting characters that were not developed and no place for them to go. Who cares about this caper? I am on page 300 now and i couldn't believe that it took 300 pages to get to this point in the story so i came to Amazon to see it if was just me. It's not. I am only finishing this book because the name Cussler is attached. If this had been an unknown author, I would have stopped a long time ago as it is a terrible story, terribly concocted with only the first chapter or two having any interest. This is SO NOT CUSSLER. The writing is repetitive and boring as if he is trying to be Cussler but failing miserably. Ok, done. Wish the book was.

Sacred Stone (The Oregon Files) Review

I should start by saying I am a big Clive Cussler fan and have read all his books. The only ones I have not enjoyed are the two Oregon Files ones.
There are so many characters I could not remember who was who without having to keep looking at the cast list at the front.
I reached the point of not caring anyway and just kept reading to get to the end. The whole thing reads like a Mission Impossible TV episode but nowhere near as good or exciting.
The scenes in the UK were very sloppy; there are no such things as pound notes and the beefeaters actually guard the Tower of London not Buckingham Palace.
I can only hope that it is Craig Dirgo that is the problem and that when the next Oregon Files book comes out written by Jack DuBrul (who I am a great fan of in his own right) that things will improve.

Dirk Pitt Revealed Review

Written between Flood Tide and Atlantis Found, this book should be in any Cussler fan's library. It starts out with a clunky but entertaining enough story where Cussler wanders around a party in the hanger and reminices with Dirk's allies, girls, and villains before getting to the man himself. Then there's an interview where Cussler tells his whole life story, and it's a simply fascinating rags to riches tale. We continue with the best part of the book in my opinion, complete plot synopses and background info on every Cussler book up to Flood Tide, including The Sea Hunters. Finally, there's an encyclopedia of all the people, vehiclles, locations, and everything else in every book. It ends with the tantalizing first chapter of Atlantis Found. I had actually read that book first, but it would definitely make me want to buy it even if I wasn't a Cussler fan. Any Cussler fans out there, you must have this book!
