His insights into military life under harsh and harrowing conditions provide a civilian a window into the gut feelings and fears that stalk a youth faced with death on a daily basis. No one knows how one will "hold up" in the line of fire, but this tribute leaves no doubt how Jim "Mac" MacLaughlin handle it...with courage, dignity and honor.
